Managing Medical Emergencies while Driving

Abhay planned a long drive with his family to a resort at Kolaghat on NH-16 (NH-6). He got into his car that morning with his wife and son and they began their drive to the resort. It was a day like any other – clear sky, smooth roads. He had driven the route many a time before. Suddenly, while at the wheel, he began to feel a severe pain in his chest. Soon he was sweating profusely. Grabbing his chest, he blacked out and in minutes lost consciousness in the middle of the highway.
